Student Information

Each belt or kyu have a prerequisite set of forms to learn and execute. These include techniques, stances, blocks and kicks to name a few.
  • The full syllabus

    Students are graded in kyus (belts). These range from 10th kyu (white belt) through to 1st kyu (brown belt with a black tip). There after students can be invited to grade for their Shodan (black belt).

  • Beginner Classes

    Beginners may join any general class. These classes allow you to ease into the program slowly and safely.

  • No previous karate experience necessary

    It is not necessary that you have any previous karate experience or that you are in good physical condition. You progress at a pace consistent with your ability and level of fitness. You are neither moved too fast nor held back. If you have previous experience or are in good physical condition you can progress more quickly. If you need more time to develop, you will not feel pressured. Everyone is treated as an individual.

  • No special gear needed for beginner try-outs

    If you're curious about trying out a Seido Karate session then you are most welcome to come along and try it out. You don't need to wear anything special to try out a class. A T-shirt and tracksuit pants or shorts will do just fine.

  • 2 Weeks of free training

    Seido Karate Devonport allows you 2 weeks of free training to see if karate is something you would like to pursue. After deciding to join the only fees to pay are the term fees.

  • Physical Fitness

    Karate training utilizes virtually every muscle in your body. You notice new power and stamina as your entire body becomes firm and toned. Seido Karate develops flexibility and coordination. Our progressive stretching exercises will help you to develop and maintain a flexible, limber body. Tightness and stiffness in the muscles and joints will disappear. You will experience a new agility and coordination. Maintaining a limber, flexible body is an important ingredient in looking and feeling young.
